Considerations
A great sex interrupted by Small amount of Urine leakage in the female partner can create problems in the relationship. Urine leakage during sex is called coital incontinence. There are two theories, which try to define the cause of coital incontinence. These are:
- An overactive bladder: This refers to an increase in the urge to pass urine. Small amount of Urine Leakage can occur when the woman isn’t able to find a bathroom, or sometimes it may occur because of no known reason.
- Stress incontinence: This refers to leakage of the urine when the bladder is full. Leakage of urine may occur even on coughing or sneezing.

Management of coital incontinence
A minor leakage does not pose any problem, and hence, may not need any treatment. However, if Small amount of Urine leakage interrupts the sexual activity, then immediate treatment is required.
Your physician may recommend you to perform Kegel’s exercises to strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor. Three sets of Kegel’s exercises with 10 squeezes per day are recommended. Electrical stimulation of the pelvic muscles can also decrease the leakage.
Some tips that you should follow to manage coital incontinence are:
- Avoid taking bladder irritants, such as coffee, tea, chocolates, canned juice and soda, and alcohol. However, women should keep themselves well-hydrated throughout the day.
- Work towards reducing weight. An increased weight raises the bladder pressure, thereby, leading to urine incontinence.
- Talk to your partner to maintain a healthy sex life.
- Pass urine before having sex to prevent leakage during sex.
- Try new positions because some positions, such as missionary can put stress on the bladder, and thereby result in urine leakage. A woman on top can very well manage the penetration as it puts less pressure on the bladder.
- Take a pee break during sex without any hesitation.
It is always wise to consult your physician, especially if coitus incontinence is affecting your sex life.
