Menstrual pain is a common thing among teenagers and sometimes even among older women. However, there are many ways to tackling the problem in a more natural way. Women don’t have to go through this pain at all. The following tips will help you live your life better and do more activities without having to worry about menstrual cramps:
1. Use either hot or cold compress:
Get a hot water bag or ice bag and then find out from which of the two your body will respond better. You can either use hot or cold treatment for menstrual pain. Hot compress is more ideal as it can provide immediate relief in the affected area. However, if that doesn’t seem to work for you, use an ice pack instead. The cold could draw out the blood causing the pain.
2. Exercise:
Exercising during your period is more than just required. If your body is active, lesser pain will be felt. Mild exercises will suffice. You can simply walk around the neighborhood or use the treadmill for this purpose. You can also opt for a bike and mill about. Yogic exercises like the Tree asana (Tad asana) is especially useful. These simple exercises will help increase blood flow.
3. Eat right:
There are certain food groups that can help ease menstrual cramps. During the week of your period, eat a lot of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. You also need to pile up on magnesium and calcium-rich foods. The most recommended food items are kale, broccoli, bread, pasta, and brown rice.
4. Massage:
Massage can give the body a more relaxing feel. Try to do some gentle, upward motions on your lower abdominal area. Do it many times to alleviate the pain. If you can handle harder pressure, do so.
5. Aromatherapy:
There are certain scents and oils that would make your body feel good during your period. It won’t hurt staying in the tub for an extra 15 minutes just smelling the goodness of chamomile, rose, or germanium. Be sure to run a hot bath rather than a cold one for the best effect.
